Unemployment is a major problem in India. A third of the youth suffer from unemployment. Hundreds of youths seek Government or private sector jobs, but there are not enough jobs available.
The main causes are:
1. Infrastructural inadequacy in Education: insufficient colleges, universities and training institutes. Most of the colleges suffer either because of poor facilities or faculty.
2. There are very few jobs in big companies despite immense profits for them. Companies are not recruiting new employments but overworking the ones they have.
3. Small businesses and cooperatives have much more employment than big companies.
The government has to do:
1. Fill up available vacancies for jobs in the government departments
2. Heavily invest in having many more educational institutions built
3. Promote and encourage small businesses, cooperatives, and local undertakings.
People can also take the initiative, by learning new skills, setting up small businesses, and not just a means of life built on government or corporate jobs.
