Jammu and Kashmir currently does not have a Chief Minister (CM) position. This is because the state of Jammu and Kashmir was reorganized into a union territory on October 31st, 2019. Subsequently, the office of Chief Minister was dissolved.Instead, the executive power in Jammu and Kashmir is vested in the Lieutenant Governor. The current Lieutenant Governor is Manoj Sinha. He is assisted by a council of advisors who hold the equivalent power of ministers in a state government.

Jammu and Kashmir has a unique system where it has two capitals:
Srinagar: This is the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir. It is situated in the Kashmir Valley and enjoys pleasant weather during the summer months. Srinagar served as the sole capital for many years before the current system was established.
Jammu: This is the winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir. Located in the southern part, Jammu experiences harsh winters, making Srinagar a more suitable administrative center during those months.
