While Dasun Shanaka returns to the ODI setup after missing the majority of the 2023 World Cup due to a thigh injury, Kusal Mendis will continue as the skipper of the national team in the 50-over format. The Sri Lankan Cricket Board announced a 17-member squad for the three match ODI series against Zimbabwe, with Mendis to be assisted by Charith Asalanka as his deputy.
Shanaka, Hasaranga return for Zimbabwe ODIs
Wanindu Hasaranga, who was recently named the T20I captain of Sri Lanka, is part of the ODI squad but his participation is subject to fitness. The legspinner missed the World Cup due to a hamstring injury. Spinner Akila Dananjaya, who last played for Sri Lanka in 2021, also returns to the team.
